It’s the most colorful time of the year! Winter Colours Week on Flickr is a visual celebration of the hues that brighten our geeky world. Beginning January 17th, the blogger babes at Poppytalk have invited Flickr users to upload their colour-appropriate images to serve as inspiration during a drab and dreary season. After conducting a poll on Twitter, ye olde color gods have decided upon the following shades:
January 17th- Reds (cerise, berry and crimson)
January 18th- Whites (dove, cream and off-white)
January 19th- Blues (navy, turquoise and seafoam)
January 20th- Greens (mint, spruce and chartreuse)
January 21st – Silver and Gold
Here at PrettiGeeky, we chose to showcase SEAFOAM! Why?
In fashion and design, seafoam can be an unexpectedly girly color. Soft and feminine without resorting to the cliché of bubblegum pink, this beachy shade helps to melt winter’s fridge grasp by invoking memories of all thing summery. Also reminiscent of the well-known Hans Christen Anderson fairytale The Little Mermaid, the playful innocence of seafoam sends us floating back to childhood. Here is just a splash of our seafoam selection from Flickr. Dive in to the whole collection here !
A flirty chiffon dress combined with the laid-back edginess of Chuck Taylor hightops effortlessly embodies my PrettiGeeky fashion sense. This look says “I dance a mean foxtrot, but sometimes I’d rather stay home and play Mario Kart.” A girl after my own heart!
Who could’ve suspected that the answer to eternal happiness has been hiding in a flowchart all along? This faux distressed poster and teal typeface could convince any geek to go with the flow…chart! Satisfy life’s other quandaries with these geeky graphics as well.
Display your girlish baubles is style, suspended from a handpainted picture frame. In addition to inviting the soothing essence of seafoam into your décor, the glisten of those gossamer strands will glam up your closet and your wardrobe!
Check out this cuddly calico, adrift on the waves. The combination of a shabby chic doorway and crisp chevron tiles could lull even the coolest cat into a dreamlike reverie. I’d snooze too in such a dreamy locale!

This is some great stuff! My only complaint is, whoever made that flowchart should have put an arrow from the “Change Something” bubble to the “Are You Happy?” bubble. On the other hand, I wanna ply that cat with catnip and give it a belly rub…
Agreed, mysterious stranger! The flowchart is somewhat incomplete, but oh-so-seafoamy.
